Egg Hunting: Hard Mode

We did an “Anything But a Bucket” contest where participants could use anything except a bucket to hunt eggs in the office! There was a lamp shade, Lego box, a football helmet, a scarecrow hat, and a plastic folder to name a few.

A bunch of our people won gift cards to various places, and we had a great time together.

Taking Strides for Charity

From Lisa Squier: My husband and I participated in The Overnight Walk on June 21 through June 22, 2025. The Overnight Walk is traditionally held in large cities like New York, Boston, etc. This year for the first time (other than during the pandemic) AFSP invited virtual walkers! For me this was the chance of a lifetime.

First and foremost a HUGE THANK YOU to Lexitas for their very generous donation that exceeded my fundraising goal and allowed me to be eligible to participate in The Overnight Walk! And many thanks to the Bryan Business unit and my team for the support and encouragement!

I raised over $1,000! We started at 7:50 pm and walked until the sun rose over the lake at 6:30 am. We walked through Historic Downtown Bryan, walked the Texas A&M University Campus, and finished our last leg at the lake celebrating with champagne and Fuego's. We exceeded the required 16 miles and finished the walk! I am so grateful to have had this opportunity and support.

The Overnight Walk is a fundraiser to bring awareness in hopes of stopping suicide. This is a cause that I am very passionate about. Since Spring of 2018, I have worked with various non-profit organizations helping bring awareness to suicide in hopes of prevention and providing support for those who suffer in any way from ideation.

Stamp of Approval

Our team member, Natia Weekes, has recently established herself as a mobile notary in Florida. Well done!

New Furry Friend!

From Katie Bowyer: My husband, Phil, and I both work in Order Entry Department of the Laguna Hills office in California, and a few weeks ago we adopted a dog from a local shelter and wanted to share with you.

His name is Quint, he’s 7 months old, and is a mix of a Bassett Hound and Lab and loves to be outside in the hot sun whenever he can get out there and, of course, tearing things apart if left alone.

We Come Bearing Gifts

Houston Concierge had their annual toy drive for BEARing Gifts. Here are some pictures from dropping them off.

BEARing Gifts is BEAR’s holiday program provides brand-new holiday gifts to at-risk and CPS-involved children who may otherwise not experience the joy of the holiday season. The number of children under the care of Child Protective Services continues to rise in the greater Houston area. In fact, at any given moment, there are 16,000 children involved in CPS-related cases, over 1,000 of which are removed from their homes under emergency situations.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed!

Completing the Journey

From Roy L. Jackson: “With great reverence and sincere admiration, we pause to extend the highest congratulations to Reverend Roy L. Jackson Sr., a distinguished scholar, devoted servant leader, and an extraordinary beacon of perseverance, purpose, and power. On the solemn heels of eulogizing his beloved mother just one week prior in May—a task only the strongest shoulders and the most faithful heart could carry Rev. Jackson stood tall at his Hooding Ceremony at the University of Houston, where he was officially conferred the academic regalia representing the conferral of a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston Downtown.

“This moment was not merely ceremonial—it was monumental.

“Rev. Jackson’s academic journey is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Having already earned his associate degree in Paralegal Technology from Houston Community College, alongside two certifications in Law Office Clerk and Law Office Assistant, he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from UHD. His academic rigor did not stop there. With unrelenting commitment and a divine sense of mission, he soared through his master’s program, graduating early and with a flawless 4.0 GPA.

“But what makes this moment even more profound is what followed.

“Out of 1,000 graduates, Rev. Roy L. Jackson Sr. was hand-selected to present his groundbreaking thesis research on Restorative Justice Practices versus Traditional Justice Models before a panel of five distinguished Ph.D. scholars and representatives from the United States Department of Justice. His research, eloquently delivered and ethically grounded, boldly interrogated the paradigms of punitive justice and elevated the possibilities of healing, restoration, and community-centered accountability. His voice, both scholarly and spiritual, echoed as a clarion call for a justice system anchored in dignity, transformation, and equity.

“In further recognition of his excellence and leadership, Rev. Jackson has been inducted into multiple prestigious honor societies, including:

  • Alpha Phi Sigma (National Criminal Justice Honor Society),

  • Phi Kappa Phi (National Academic Honor Society),

  • Pi Gamma Mu (International Social Sciences Honor Society),

  • Phi Theta Kappa (Honor Society for Two-Year Colleges).

“Yet perhaps what sets Rev. Jackson apart is not merely the medals he wears or the honors beside his name, but the legacy he builds in the lives of others.

“As Founder and Executive Director of the "Musical Wizards", a certified 501(c)(3), Rev. Jackson has personally mentored and musically trained 15 young students, each of whom have gone on to receive full collegiate music scholarships after an 8-month intensive in his private studio. His work in this capacity earned him the University of Houston Downtown’s Distinguished Community Service Award, underscoring his tireless devotion to uplifting underserved youth and expanding access to educational opportunities through the power of the arts.

“As we celebrate this extraordinary milestone, Rev. Jackson prepares to begin his Ph.D. studies this upcoming Spring, furthering his academic pursuits to shape criminal justice policy, expand restorative practices, and advocate for systemic reform at the highest levels.”

Also from Roy L. Jackson: “Here’s the latest accomplishment becoming a part of the D9 family of fraternities and sororities.

“A line was walked. A standard was upheld. And a legacy was solidified.

“On Saturday, June 21st, we pause to honor and exalt a monumental moment in the life of Roy L. Jackson Sr., who has now crossed the sacred sands and been inducted into the esteemed brotherhood of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

“This was no ordinary journey. This was consecrated ground—where iron sharpens iron, and men are forged under the weight of tradition, tested through trial, and refined by purpose. Roy didn’t just endure the process—he embodied it. As the anchor of his line, he carried not only the pressure of position but the vision of legacy, pressing forward with a resolve that refused to bend and a reverence that refused to break.

“Phi Beta Sigma is more than letters stitched in blue and white. It is a prophetic call to live out Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service with excellence, dignity, and urgency. Since its founding in 1914, it has birthed change agents, bridged generations, and built communities. To become a Sigma is to accept the weight of that heritage—and Roy L. Jackson Sr. has done so with honor, humility, and holy conviction.

“We do not simply congratulate him—we salute the sacrifice, the spiritual fortitude, the nights of preparation, and the unspoken prayers behind the process. He did not just cross the sands—he walked into destiny. He stepped into legacy. He aligned with purpose.

“Welcome, Brother Jackson, to the brotherhood of builders, thinkers, servants, and kings. You are not just Sigma-made—you are purpose-made.”

Meeting Service Pups

From Danielle Tonasket: Our local Search and Rescue had an open house of their newly developed station. Also in attendance was the German Shepherd Search Dogs team, who won over everyone. My daughter especially loved Cascade.

The Search and Rescue 4x4 team were very popular with their vehicles, as well. A couple of other Lexitas people came to visit, too!

Stayin’ Alive

The Washington office recently completed an onsite CPR and First Aid certification course! The 3-hour, instructor-led training equipped team members with critical lifesaving skills and increased confidence in responding to workplace and real-world emergencies.

In addition to the training, we’ve also applied for local funding grants to install an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in our office. AEDs are used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, a leading cause of death in the U.S.

According to the American Heart Association, about 90% of people who suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest die. However, when CPR is administered immediately and an AED is used within the first few minutes, survival rates can double or even triple.

Having an AED onsite, along with trained staff, greatly enhances our emergency preparedness and strengthens our commitment to creating a safe and responsive work environment.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make safety a top priority!

Making My Way Back Home

Washington Account Manager, Tanya Aliment, made her annual pilgrimage back to her sunny home state of California! She and her son hit the road for a memorable trip to the Bay Area, where they spent quality time with family; her mom, nieces, nephew, great-nieces and -nephews, and even her beloved aunt and uncle.

A trip full of sunshine, laughter, and heartwarming reunions! Check out a few snapshots from her visit below. 🌞📸

Buddy Walk 2025

Leigh Ryan from the Washington office is raising awareness for a great cause. She’s excited to share that she’s participating in Buddy Walk 2025 benefiting 321 Buddy again this year.

This cause has been close to her heart due to the fact that her Godson was born special; he has an extra chromosome. Korben is her little soul-twin and loves everything about him. He makes her want to be a better person to show him that the world is wonderful and beautiful and he is right where he belongs.

321 Buddy helps families and general public better understand and provide resources for those that want to know what Down Syndrome is and how it affects those living with it, or the families affected by someone who has it.  They are not just an organization to provide info and leave you to it; they are a family. They are there to reach out to all and help in whatever form they can.

It's been a year since they opened their resource center doors, and they have served more than 90 families and hosted over 135 sessions. From days for siblings, dad or mom days, holidays, dances, birthdays, to even bringing in experts to help guide people in the complex world that they must traverse. This organization is THE BOMB!

If you’d like to contribute, the link to help Leigh reach her charity pledge goal this year can be found here.

Welcome to the World

Leigh Ryan is excited to share that she has become a first time Auntie. Always the lover of babies, she is so excited to finally share some love with a little in her own family.

Weston Burton was born in the wee morning hours on May 3rd, 2025; 5lbs 1oz. Weston is a little over two months old now, and the sweetest little man.

Meet Gunner – Nancy’s New Furry Sidekick!

Washington ERD team member Nancy Sowards has a new four-legged family member!

Meet Gunner, an 18-week-old purebred Belgian Malinois with a personality as big as his ears. Known for their intelligence, loyalty, and boundless energy, Belgian Malinois make incredible companions, and Gunner is already living up to the hype. Whether he's learning new tricks, exploring the great outdoors, or just turning on the charm, this pup is stealing hearts left and right.

Nancy shared four photos because, honestly… one just isn’t enough. He’s that cute. 🐾

Welcome to Your New Home!

Suzie Mendenhall’s pack welcomed Shetland Sheepdog pup, Merlyn, to the kennel, who got to attend her first barn hunt trial the first week she arrived. What a welcome!

From Suzie: We all had lots of fun as usual at the trial – a new location for us in Poulsbo, WA. Jester achieved her new title – RATN – and the rest worked hard finding those rats! Now Merlyn is learning how to be a good furry coworker, like taking lots of naps. Thanks to the Lexitas family for supporting us at our dog events

Aloha from Maui! 🌺

Washington Assistant Director of Operations, Heidi Donovan, recently checked a major item off her bucket list: a once-in-a-lifetime family vacation to magical Maui! Heidi and her husband Dean planned the trip as a special getaway with their sons, Austin and Kolby, and their significant others, Nicole and Emylia. One last big adventure together before the next generation of grandkids begins to arrive!

Why Maui? They’d never been, and the island's reputation for natural beauty and unforgettable experiences absolutely lived up to the hype.

Some of the highlights included:

A stunning boat ride on the Pride of Maui to snorkel around the Molokini Crater and Turtle Bay—sea turtles included!

A scenic coastal drive to the Nakalele Blowhole, with plenty of photo-worthy stops along the way.

A mini trek on the Road to Hana with lush rainforests and dreamy waterfalls.

Sun-soaked days spent swimming and relaxing at Kaanapali and Napili beaches.

Poolside reading, family laughs, and well-earned R&R at the resort.

Maui truly stole their hearts, and someday, they plan to return with grandkids in tow. Until then, Heidi’s holding onto the memories of ocean breezes, tropical views, and cherished family time. 🌈🌺

Cabin Goals

Big news from Washington team members Blake Sanderson and Julia Hefti: They’re officially cabin owners! The pair recently purchased the cutest A-frame tucked away in the charming town of Ashford, WA, right at the base of the breathtaking Mount Rainier.

Mount Rainier, standing at 14,410 feet, is the highest peak in the Pacific Northwest and known for its wildflower meadows, glacier-capped summit, and epic hiking trails.

Jollan’s Idaho Adventure!

Washington Director of Operations, Jollan Franco, recently escaped to the great outdoors for a fun-filled camping trip to Willow Creek Campground in Idaho with her best friend. The weekend was packed with river floats, campfire games, and even a little fire-side magic. And yes, she changed the color of the flames!

Located along the Middle Fork of the Boise River in the scenic Boise National Forest, Willow Creek Campground is a peaceful, off-the-grid gem known for its stunning forest views, access to the river, and rustic charm. With just a few first-come, first-served campsites and no cell service, it’s the perfect place to truly unplug and unwind.

Jollan’s highlights included:

Floating the river on inflatable loungers—though she recommends bringing extra rope to keep your porpoise from drifting away!

Laughing around the campfire with s’mores, games, and rainbow-colored flames

Exploring the quiet forest trails and soaking up the fresh mountain air

Pro tip: Pack plenty of bug spray, bring your own drinking water, and be ready for a bumpy Forest Service road drive; it’s all part of the adventure!

From peaceful mornings to playful evenings, Jollan’s Idaho escape was equal parts relaxation and ridiculous fun. Willow Creek might just be your next favorite camping spot!

A Place to Call Home

Big congrats to Washington Records Support Specialist, Toni Deck, and her husband as they officially became new homeowners on April 30th, 2025! The couple recently closed on their beautiful new house, and they're already in love with everything about it. This is their view.

What sealed the deal? A fabulous kitchen perfect for cooking, entertaining, or just sipping coffee with a view. And speaking of views, they scored a partial glimpse of majestic Mt. Rainier right from home! Talk about a picture-perfect backdrop.
