One Mile Challenge
Danielle Tonasket and Leigh Curtin of the Washington BU signed up to support the One Mile Challenge during September 2025. Each day they were able to, they would head out at lunch and walk around the blocks and chat to get their one mile in for the day.
Doing this task was also a welcome break from all the hubbub that transpired as renovations were taking place inside the office. There were lovely chats and the wonderful sun beating down giving a dose of Vitamin D to lighten up the normal day-to-day.
A Frightful Festivity
Our Halloween party was a spooky success, complete with a friendly competition for the best office décor and the most creative treats.
Congratulations to Toni Deck for winning Best Office Decor and to Theresa Burns for taking home the prize for Best Spooky Treat!
Giving Back During the Holiday
Our 2nd annual Thanksgiving Food Drive was a huge triumph! Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we collected an overwhelming amount of donations—so much that Lindsey Hansen’s car could barely fit it all!
This amazing effort will make a real difference for families in need this holiday season.
Thank You For Everything, Kim
Washington is celebrating the retirement to our incredible colleague, Kim Jones!
Kim has been with our office since the formation of the company JS&L and has spent nearly 30 years supporting the growth and success of our office.
While we will miss her greatly, we are thrilled to congratulate Kim on this well-deserved milestone. Thank you for everything you’ve done - you’ll always be part of our family!
Some of her teammates wanted to offer Kim some words of gratitude.
Blake Sanderson:
Kim,
It is hard to put into words what you mean to our family and to everyone who has had the privilege of working with you. You have been part of James, Sanderson & Lowers for longer than I have been alive, and in so many ways, you helped shape the heart of the company long before I ever understood what that truly meant. When JS&L was acquired by Lexitas, you came along with us, bringing the same steadiness, care, and integrity you have always shown. Your intelligence, kindness, and genuine care for others have always set you apart.
I hope retirement gives you all the time you deserve to enjoy your love of reading, spending time with your grandchildren, and whatever else brings you joy and peace. Thank you for everything you have contributed to JS&L, to Lexitas, and to our family. Your impact will always be felt.
Wishing you all the very best in this next chapter!
Amanda Johnstone:
After 29 incredible years, we’re celebrating the retirement of Kim Jones; a wonderful mom, grandma, sister, friend, and truly one-of-a-kind teammate. I’ve had the privilege of working with Kim for 20 of those years. She was the very first employee of James, Sanderson and Lowers, spending 23 years helping build that foundation before joining Lexitas, where she’s been for the last six years. She still remembers looking up attorneys in phone books, and she’s been mastering every change since.
Kim is the definition of loyalty and hard work. A true jack of all trades, she could run the Washington office with her eyes closed, and she did it all with more heart and compassion than you can find in most people.
Kim, I wish you all the happiness in your retirement; may it be filled with books, tea, and endless relaxation. You’ve more than earned it.
Jake Gott:
It has been my distinct pleasure to have Kim Jones as a colleague for nearly 5 years, and I’m glad I could be a part of her professional journey. Ever since we bonded over The Princess Bride, I knew I would enjoy working with her. While it may seem “inconceivable” to imagine this office without Kim, it is only right that we borrow a line from Westley and say, “As you wish.” Congratulations on your decades of accomplishment, Kim!
Heidi Donovan:
Kim’s commitment, expertise, and positive spirit have left a mark on our team. Her kindness and dedication have made her a valued colleague who will truly be missed.
And, of course, we can’t forget Kim’s love for giraffes! Her delightful collection of giraffe-themed treasures always brought smiles to our faces and reflected her fun and unique personality.
I would like to congratulate Kim on this incredible milestone and wish her all the best in her next chapter!

Helping the Kids with Caps
From August 2024 through November 2025, the Houston Concierge team proudly collected more than 16,000 bottle caps and lids in support of Banco de Tapitas.
This initiative, led by Stephanie Gutierrez on behalf of a local ambassador, helps provide resources for children battling cancer. Our team went above and beyond gathering caps from the office, at home, and even partnering with several local businesses to contribute to this meaningful cause.
Banco de Tapitas began as a movement of young Mexicans, students, and professionals from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Tecmilenio, Anahuac, UNAM, UAQ and UVM, with the intention of supporting the fight against childhood cancer through the recycling of plastic caps.
The caps that you usually dispose of as garbage can become a valuable source of resources. By donating, you contribute significantly to the generation of funds to support medical treatments for children diagnosed with cancer.
https://www.bancodetapitas.org/historia
Caps are collected throughout the country. Once we get them to our ambassadors, coordinators or logistical allies, the caps travel to their recycling centers (CDMX, Puebla and Querétaro). There the caps are washed, separated, crushed, and ground to create pellets that are sold to the plastic industry in the country to create new things.
With this income, Banco de Tapitas can support and exercise its programs free of charge to patients from 0 to 21 years of age with a diagnosis of cancer. Their website indicates that it is important to know that in Querétaro and CDMX they employ people in vulnerable conditions who help us in the recycling process.
Partying with Pies!
The Houston Sales Team treated everyone at 13101 NW Freeway in Houston to some sweet treats! Happy Pie Day! Thanks Mary, Tina, Sharri, Cheryl & Mindi!
Summer Treats
Summer vibes were in full swing for the Houston Concierge Team! We beat the heat with delicious food, decadent desserts, and a fizzy dirty soda bar to keep spirits high.
Additionally, between deadlines and projects, we carved out a moment to enjoy a team lunch with our arranging, billing, research, and production crew. It was a refreshing pause to catch up and share some laughs!
Counting the Days with Laughs
Our Client Services Manager, Sarah Hansen, received the ultimate personalized gift this year. A custom calendar created by her amazing team! From themed photo shoots to hilarious poses, the team went all out to make each month unforgettable.
And let’s not forget the editing wizardry by Makayla Tompkins, who turned these moments into pure gold. This is what happens when a team not only works hard but knows how to have fun together. 💡👏
Happy Birthday, Little Guy!
From Brittney Eastman: Our sweet, funny, blue eyed boy, Theodore, turned ONE this September! 💙
From 8 lbs. to a whirlwind of running, belly laughs, and eating everything in sight. It’s been an incredible year! We’re so grateful he joined our pack and filled our lives with endless joy!
Giving Thanks, Italian Style
An Italian Thanksgiving to Remember! Meaghann Fort enjoyed a once in a lifetime adventure last year, exploring the beauty of Italy! From the charming hills of Montegridolfo visiting an olive tree grove, to the romantic canals of Venice, the historic college town of Urbino, the artistic heart of Florence, the unique Republic of San Marino, and the picturesque villages of Sassocorvaro and Casinina. Truly a wonderful, Italian Thanksgiving to remember!
Holiday Cheer at the Houston Office
From the magical glow of twinkling lights to the sparkle of holiday décor, the Houston team truly embraces this special time of year. The office is transformed into a winter wonderland with icicle lights, beautifully decorated Christmas trees, and the hustle and bustle of wrapping up the year across all departments.
The holiday party celebration begins with a sweet start of an array of delicious desserts brought in by the team and a fun twist: everyone picks their festive elf’s name to sprinkle a little extra magic into the celebration. The beloved tradition continues with lunch from Star Pizza, followed by an afternoon of laughter and games.
A White Elephant gift exchange (with a twist-dice!) keeps everyone guessing, and a saran wrap ball game brought out a competitive holiday spirit in the best way! A day wrapped in holiday magic, sprinkled with laughter, and tied together with memories!
Candy Cane Game
12 candy canes were hidden throughout the suite. The team grabbed a sheet to list the location of the hidden candy canes. The first to find all 12 won a prize! Stephanie Gutierrez found all 12 candy canes and won!!

Helping the Kids
This MMA toy drive event happened on 12/7, and it was a huge success!
So many children in need were able to grab jackets, beanies, gloves, food, treats, and a toy of their choosing. The number of toys that kept coming in was very impressive, and no child was left without a toy! There was a decorate-your-own-stocking booth, a decorate-your-own-Christmas-sugar-cookie booth, make your own ornament booth and a write a letter to Santa booth, and more. Santa, his wife and elves were there along with his motorcycle sleigh, oh and The Grinch was there too!
From Kristine Dlugoleki:
Some of you may know that my husband and I love riding and traveling on his Harley Davidson with his motorcycle club, along with all our other biker friends. What many people don’t realize is that being part of the biker community means being part of something bigger—we raise a ton of money for charity and for families in need, especially around the holidays.
One of the biggest supporters of these efforts is the Modified Motorcycle Association (MMA). The MMA is a huge part of the biker community, and most bikers are proud members. If you’re thinking, “Huh? Who? What?” don’t worry—you’re not alone! So let me take a moment to share who the MMA is and some of the wonderful things they do for families in need during the holiday season.
Here's the official "who we are" from the MMA website:
The Modified Motorcycle Association of California is a political / charitable 501(c)4 Non-Profit Corporation established in 1973 and operated for the benefit of all motorcyclists. Our goals and objectives are to make the lifestyle of motorcycling safer and to protect the rights and interests of the motorcycling community, while also serving the general community at large through our charitable contributions from our efforts.
Every year the MMA hosts a Christmas Toy Drive, and this year Lexitas was officially one of the drop-off sites for new, unwrapped toys for families in need—we’re even listed on the MMA website (mmaofca.com)!
